Spring has finally sprung and, true to form, a young man’s fancy turns to thoughts of love. Only here, the object of his affection just happens to be a stack of Pringles devotedly assembled in female form.
“Pringlelina: A Love Story” is a follow-up to “Pringleleo,” the brand’s Super Bowl ad starring Sabrina Carpenter from earlier this year. It is the latest work released under the snack brand’s surreal “Once You Pop, The Pop Don’t Stop” campaign targeting Gen Z.
Created by BBDO New York and directed by Thomas Ormonde through ProdCo, the 60-second spot echoes the plotline of its predecessor, only this time it’s a male protagonist instead of Carpenter who builds his life partner by emptying out multiple cans of Pringles.
After a bike ride in the park and a romantic dinner date, the couple are just about to share their first kiss when they’re caught in the act by an unsuspecting roommate.
Dan Kelly, executive creative director at BBDO New York, said this latest tale of passionate craving is the perfect sequel to Carpenter’s bite-sized romcom: “Everyone finds love a little differently. Some people swipe. Some people stack. Building a salty soulmate out of chips hit a chord with Pringles fans, and now the snacking love story continues.”
Launching today (April 1), a 15-second cut will air nationwide on TV and YouTube, while longer 30-second and 60-second versions will be available on YouTube.
