Harrowing situation: CNN’s Jerusalem correspondent, Jeremy Diamond, and his crew, while covering a West Bank incursion by Israeli settlers, were detained and assaulted by the Israeli Military on Friday, March 27.

The crew, alongside several Palestinians, were held by the soldiers for two hours. During the ordeal, CNN photojournalist Cyril Theophilos was put in a chokehold, taken to the ground, and had his camera damaged by one of the soldiers.

Following CNN’s report of the incident over the weekend, the top general from the Israeli military, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, suspended all operational activities of the reserve battalion involved with the detainment and assault. This also included the dismissal of one of the soldiers from military service.
