Microsoft’s top advertising executive, Kya Sainsbury-Carter, is leaving the company after three years in the role, she said in a LinkedIn post Tuesday.

Taking over the role is Matt Derella, who has led global ad sales at LinkedIn since late 2024. Derella will now act as svp of both LinkedIn Marketing Solutions and Microsoft Advertising.

LinkedIn’s corporate communications team confirmed Derella’s appointment in a blog post, and clarified that Microsoft and LinkedIn will “continue to operate as distinct organizations.” In a post of his own, Derella thanked both companies and their customers.

Sainsbury-Carter joined Microsoft in 2006, when she started as a director of U.S.
