Matt MacDonald has departed VCCP and will join Omnicom-owned Merkley+Partners as chief creative officer, the agency shared with ADWEEK.

MacDonald leaves VCCP after two years leading creative for the U.S. outpost of the London-headquartered agency. He joined in the fall of 2024 after a decade at BBDO, where he led the AT&T business as chief creative officer in New York.

At Merkley+Partners—a midsize full-service agency based in New York—MacDonald is tasked with reshaping the creative vision and approach.

When he starts in November, he will fill a position that’s been vacant since former CCO Andy Hirsch, who had been with the agency since 1999, retired at the end of 2024.
