Early morning business viewers will have a new program to tune in to, as CNBC is set to launch Morning Call, anchored by Morgan Brennan.
Premiering on Monday, March 23, at 5 a.m. ET, Morning Call will deliver market-moving insights and break down unfolding global developments, in addition to setting the business agenda for the trading day ahead.
“The whole purpose of Morning Call is to bring together the sharpest minds in business,” said Brennan. “CEOs, power players, and decision makers across every time zone to set not only the news narrative—the business news narrative for CNBC—but more broadly across business news as well.”
Brennan’s show is described as a new high-energy program for investors, executives, and decision-makers who need to get ahead of the markets before the U.S. trading day begins.
It will also feature a dynamic panel of influential business leaders and newsmakers, breaking down the overnight moves across the globe and spotlighting stories that will matter most to viewers as they navigate through the day.
CNBC says its roster of anchors and reporters will also contribute in‑depth reporting, real‑time analysis, and on‑the‑ground perspective.
Brennan has been with CNBC for more than 10 years, most recently anchoring Closing Bell Overtime. She was part of an anchor shuffle announced in January that saw her and her Overtime co-host, Jon Fortt, move to new programs. Melissa Lee and Michael Santoli were announced as the new co‑anchors of the network’s 4 p.m. ET show.
Brennan spoke to TVNewser exclusively ahead of Morning Call’s premiere as part of our 5 Questions for… series.
TVNewser: What is the one thing that excites you about Morning Call?
Brennan: We are building and reimagining this hour from the content and the way we deliver and analyze it. The creation of a new panel of regular trusted experts to discuss the topics on tap for the day. Even the studio itself, how we’re using the space, and interacting with guests.
All of that is being reimagined in this hour, and I think what’s especially exciting is that the whole purpose of Morning Call is to bring together the sharpest minds in business.
What have you been doing in preparation for the new morning’s show?
We have soft-launched in the last couple of weeks, and I’ve been in the hour where we’ve been building, and been doing everything from interacting with the studio, the graphics, and the production [teams] differently, to thinking differently about how we go into interviews. I think the biggest thing here is that we’ve created this new panel, which will feature regular rotating experts and basically lightning rounds.
