As the oldest members of Gen Z enter the professional world and begin their financial journeys, Credit Karma wants to remind them that financial confidence is not just a practical way to live but also an emotional state of being.

The company’s new campaign, “On Top of Your Money. On Top of Your World,” puts the focus squarely on Gen Z consumers with five new ads, created in partnership with R/GA. The spots were directed by the duo Alaska, with choreography by Ryan Heffington.

The hero spot, “Bumpin’,” will debut during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Sept. 27. In the ad, a commuter rides a city bus, feeling overwhelmed by expenses like rent and car repairs. When the bus hits a speed bump, he gets the idea to use Credit Karma’s Paycheck Advance product to cover those expenses.

Suddenly, he feels joy and relief, breaking into dance with the other passengers. Heffington’s choreography uses every part of the bus, including the benches and poles.

This is the biggest campaign in Credit Karma’s history, and it marks the brand’s evolution from a credit score checker to a financial platform with products that help users manage their finances in one place.

According to Natasha Madan, CMO of Credit Karma, as the company evolved, so has its marketing.

“If you see our old advertising, it was very much about how you get your credit score up. It was very transactional and functional,” Madan told ADWEEK.

This campaign focuses on the emotion of a financial journey and how financial successes can create confidence.

“When you are on that financial journey and you have made progress, the confidence that you get when you are on the other side is what we are tapping into,” Madan said. “That feeling is what we are amplifying.”

Tiffany Rolfe, chair and global CCO at R/GA, said finding the human story was key to keeping the campaign from becoming a list of Credit Karma features.

“We found the human thing under all the products: you feel like a different person when your money is working for you. Finance usually sells relief: the bad thing goes away, cue the sigh. Credit Karma wanted to own forward motion, so we built a creative platform around that… and credit them for the ambition of it,” Rolfe told ADWEEK.

The four additional spots will roll out across OTT, CTV, and social media.
