In the waning days of 2025, the food media company Food52 declared bankruptcy in a Delaware court, the final chapter in a long saga of financial woes that had plagued the publisher since 2022. In total, the company owes more than $25 million to a mix of creditors, according to the filing.
The declaration was a fitting coda to a story that I had published just days before, an investigation that had been months in the making.
