London-headquartered communications group Common Interest is expanding its U.S. presence by taking a minority stake in Los Angeles-based agency Mirimar.

The deal will see Mirimar’s founders and partners become equity holders in Common Interest, giving the two companies shared ownership.

Common Interest is starting with a minority stake in Mirimar, but the plan is to work toward majority ownership. Clarity advised on the deal, and further financial terms were not disclosed to ADWEEK.

The deal marks Common Interest’s biggest move in the U.S. to date, according to the company. It is part of its broader strategy to build a network of independent creative businesses spanning brand strategy, design, cultural intelligence, experiences, and entertainment.
