His & Hers Lands at the Top of the Chart

Netflix’s miniseries His & Hers ended Stranger Things’ nine-week stranglehold at the top of Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of January 12.

The Tessa Thompson-led series topped the chart, finishing the week with 2.244 billion viewing minutes. The Adults 35-64 demo accounted for 55% of the audience, and Black audiences contributed more than 26% of the series’ watch time.

Half the chart featured titles that crossed the billion-viewing-minutes mark, according to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings. Three of those titles were from Netflix. Paramount+ and HBO Max each had one. Netflix remained the streamer with the most titles on the chart, with five, one of which was shared with other streaming services. 

Sliding to the No. 2 spot was Stranger Things, with the Netflix title having 1.912 billion minutes viewed. This was followed by Paramount+’s Landman, also dropping one position to third place with 1.772 billion viewing minutes—its best showing to date. The final episode of Landman was streamed during this period and accounted for 35% of the show’s total viewing.  

The movie The Rip, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, ranked fourth with 1.393 billion minutes viewed. Male viewers were slightly more drawn to the Netflix crime thriller, making up 51% of the audience. Hispanic and Black viewers were also well represented, accounting for 26% and 18%, respectively, of the movie’s total audience.

Rounding out the top five was HBO Max’s The Pitt, which drew in 1.158 billion viewing minutes. This was the medical series’ best showing to date as it jumped two places from the previous week, with the Women 18+ demo making up 58% of the watch time during the just-concluded week.

The bottom half of the chart included the sci-fi thriller 11.22.63 from Netflix, which moved up three spots to No. 6 with 970 million minutes viewed during the week of January 12. 

It was followed by the Netflix, Peacock, and Pluto TV shared title The Closer, which slipped one spot with 939 million viewing minutes. Taking eighth place was The Traitors on Peacock, with 892 million minutes viewed. 

At No. 9 was Prime Video’s Fallout with 844 million viewing minutes for the just concluded week. Occupying the final position was Disney+’s animated series, Bluey, falling from the No. 5 position with 802 million minutes viewed.
