Jay-Z is brushing the dirt off his shoulder, and his set list, with the rapper reportedly set to headline the Super Bowl XLI halftime show.

According to Puck, Jay-Z has chosen himself to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl, which will be broadcast on Disney platforms from SoFi Stadium on Feb. 14, 2027. The rapper’s Roc Nation company has had an agreement with the NFL since 2019 (renewed for 5 years in 2024) to produce the Super Bowl halftime show, which is sponsored by Apple Music.

Puck noted that Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were also potential candidates to headline the halftime show. Notably, Jay-Z hasn’t released an album since 2017, but he still has the cachet to fill arenas and has two shows coming up at SoFi Stadium this weekend, where he could reportedly announce the news.

Though Jay-Z’s company has produced and strategized the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019, this will be the first time he’s headlined it. In 2024, he told Entertainment Tonight he thought choosing himself too soon for the Super Bowl would be “selfish” but added, “Maybe one year.”

Last year’s Super Bowl featured Bad Bunny in a Puerto Rico-inspired performance from Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. According to Apple Music, the NFL, and Roc Nation, Bad Bunny’s Big Game performance had 4.157 billion views in 24 hours across global broadcast, YouTube, and social platforms.

The NFL, Apple, and Roc Nation didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Jay-Z headlining the Super Bowl halftime show.
