Netflix’s The Diplomat Enters the Chart at No. 1

A new No. 1 sits at the top of Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart, as Netflix’s The Diplomat claimed the honors for the week of October 20.

In its third season, The Diplomat, which returned to the streamer on October 16, recorded 1.235 billion minutes and was a hit with the Adults 50+ demo, accounting for 68% of the series’ total audience. 

According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, two titles had over a billion viewing minutes, both belonging to Netflix. The streamer had eight titles in the chart, three of which had shared distribution rights. 

The true crime documentary The Perfect Neighbor was in second, earning 1.009 billion minutes viewed to jump from eighth place. The Adults 18-34 demo made up 25% of the doc’s total audience. It was followed by the romantic dramedy Nobody Wants This, also from Netflix, with 904 million viewing minutes.

The shared titles NCIS (shared between Hulu, Netflix, Pluto, and Paramount+) and Grey’s Anatomy (shared between Hulu and Netflix) jumped to fourth and fifth place, respectively. NCIS had 840 million viewing minutes, and Grey’s Anatomy accumulated 835 million minutes viewed.

The lower half of the chart comprised the Netflix movie A House of Dynamite, which led the way at No. 6 with 734 million viewing minutes. In seventh was the procedural drama Law & Order, shared between Hulu and Peacock, with 699 million minutes viewed for the week of October 20. 

Hulu’s Bob’s Burgers jumped two spots to No. 8 with 693 million viewing minutes, and it was followed by the Netflix series Poldark, which dropped from second to ninth place with 681 million minutes viewed. 

In the final spot in the chart was the return of Disney+’s Bluey with 670 million viewing minutes.
