Stranger Things Stays No. 1

The release of the final season of Stranger Things has kept the Netflix series at the top of Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of December 1.

Stranger Things accumulated 4.376 billion viewing minutes for the week, with the new batch of episodes accounting for 39% of total watch time. The remainder of the series’ watch time was dedicated to catching up on previous seasons.

According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, three titles, two from Netflix and one from Paramount+, crossed the billion-viewing-minutes mark. Netflix had the most titles on the chart with seven, and three had shared distribution rights. 

The 50 Cent-produced docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning debuted on the chart in second place with 2.275 billion minutes viewed. Viewers were interested in learning the latest on the fallen entertainment icon, with the primary audience being the Adults 35-49 demo, accounting for 38% of total watch time. Black viewers were especially drawn to the series, contributing 37% of the total audience.

The Paramount+ series Landman continues its strong run on the chart, holding on to the No. 3 spot with 1.473 billion viewing minutes. It is the only non-Netflix title to finish above a billion viewing minutes. In fourth place was the Hulu and Netflix shared title Homeland with 907 million minutes viewed.

Rounding out the top five was NCIS, shared among Hulu, Netflix, Pluto, and Paramount+, with 850 million viewing minutes.   

The shared title Victoria, from Netflix and PBS, led the bottom half of the chart for the week of December 1, with 801 million minutes viewed. It was followed by Hulu’s Bob’s Burgers, accounting for 769 million viewing minutes.

At No. 8 was Disney+’s Bluey with 707 million minutes viewed. In ninth place was the Netflix-Hulu shared title Grey’s Anatomy, having 698 million viewing minutes. 

Closing out the chart was the kids series Paw Patrol, shared by Netflix and Paramount, with 665 million viewed minutes.
