As year-end trend reports flood the internet, “trend fatigue” is setting in, according to Pinterest.
However, the platform wants to cut through the noise and any residual FOMO with the return of Pinterest Predicts, its annual data-driven forecast.
Each year, Pinterest analyzes year-over-year growth across 80 billion monthly searches from its 600 million users to identify the colors, aesthetics, and styles poised to define the year ahead.
Over the past six years, 88% of its predicted trends have materialized, from Eclectic Grandpa and the Jellyfish Cut to Cherry Red and the Pickle Fix.
For 2026, the trends span generations, though Gen Z is powering 67% of them.
For the first time, Pinterest Predicts will include physical products that consumers can shop. The platform partnered with Ian Charms on a capsule collection of bag charms, necklaces, and bracelets, and CASETiFY on a phone accessories collection.
In the U.K., it is launching an on-platform Predicts Shop, featuring collections from brands like Cult Beauty, Tommy Hilfiger, and Wolf & Badger.
Pinterest is also again bringing its Predicts report to life IRL, hosting trends-inspired experiences in the U.S. with brands such as Maybelline, Hellmann’s, Warner Bros, and NYX.
“Pinterest is the perfect place for people to escape overstimulation through trends that don’t create social comparison or fear of missing out (FOMO),” said Sydney Stanback, the company’s global head of trends and insights. “In 2026, people will make these trends their own, put unique spins on each, and ensure that what’s trending never comes at the cost of personal expression.”
Below, ADWEEK highlights three key themes and accompanying trends that brands need to watch going into 2026.
Nostalgia isn’t disappearing, it’s evolving
People are still drawing comfort from looking to the past. Pinterest found 52% of respondents are rewatching classic TV or movies, and nearly 4 in 10 are cooking or eating traditional comfort foods.
But nostalgia is evolving into “reclamation,” fusing the past with the present, according to Pinterest.
This is going to show up in trends like an obsession with all things gummy–think bendy phone cases, elastic cheek tints, rubberized nail art, and 3D jewellery.
