Many people are turning to escapism to recharge and recover from burnout, Pinterest found. Some are reengaging with nature and self-care, while younger generations are turning to fashion and beauty as an escape. Gen Z respondents were 38% more likely to say they’ve embraced self-expression to stay emotionally connected and creatively fulfilled.
This will look like: Cool Blue, a shade showing up everywhere from makeup to wedding dresses to drinks; Wilderkind, i.e., animal aesthetics like butterfly wing nail art and fox-inspired outfits; Extra Celestial (or intergalactic) styles; and the Opera Aesthetic.

For many, the ultimate form of escapism is travel. In 2026, Gen Z and Millennials will trade relaxing beach vibes for “Darecations,” or adrenaline-inspired tourism such as river rafting and canyoneering routes.
