Week of Dec. 29 Cable News Ratings: CNN Wins Primetime Demo

When looking at these networks’ performance during the same period a year ago:

  • During primetime, Fox News was down by -12% in total viewers and -30% in the A25-54 demo. During total day, the network saw decreases of -6% in total viewers and -26% in the demo.
  • MS NOW was up +30% in total viewers and +16% in the demo. During total day, the network was up +18% in total viewers and +8% in the demo.
  • In primetime, CNN grew by +44% in total viewers and +46% in the demo. During total day, it rose by +34% in total viewers and +41% in the demo.

PROGRAMMING:

Fox News had 13 out of the 15 spots of the most-watched cable news shows of the week, with The Five on top with 2.736 million total viewers at 5 p.m. ET. MS NOW was represented in the chart by Deadline: White House with Nicolle Wallace, which airs between 4 and 6 p.m. ET, ranking No. 14 with 1.028 million total viewers.

The Five at 5 p.m. ET on Fox News was the top show in the Adults 25-54 demo, averaging 224,000 viewers. Fox News held 14 of the 15 top spots in the demo, with CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront, airing at 7 p.m. ET, in 14th place with 101,000 demo viewers.
