The multicultural media and marketing firm My Code has named three new members to its executive leadership team, according to chief executive Imani Duncan.
On Tuesday, the company named Luis Romero as its new chief revenue officer, Ying Miao as its chief financial officer, and Dave Lacolzi as its chief operating officer.
The moves complete the executive bench that Duncan, who joined My Code in January, has spent the past several months assembling. Romero and Miao join the company as outside hires, while Lacolzi is an internal promotion.
“It’s really about the future for me,” Duncan said. “These are my hires to create my executive leadership.”
Romero, who started Aug. 17, brings more than 25 years of experience in the multicultural media industry. He joins My Code from Canela Media, where he served as executive vice president of sales, and previously held a senior sales role at The Guardian.

Miao, who started in late August, has more than 17 years of marketing experience and was most recently chief financial officer at Converge, a performance marketing agency. Her hire coincides with My Code formally establishing New York as its headquarters.
Lacolzi, who has held the COO title for four months, was promoted from senior vice president of product marketing and solutions at My Code. He previously held senior roles at Paramount, ESPN, and The Arena Group, and will oversee companywide operations and its go-to-market strategy.
For My Code, a multicultural company whose pitch to clients is its ability to reach diverse audiences, the culture fit of the hires was critical, according to Duncan.
“My Code is 83% diverse—we are the audience we are trying to reach,” Duncan said. “We wanted a culture fit that was complementary to our team.”
