The appointments reflect the executive turnover that often accompanies new leadership tenures. Just last September, My Code had named Kristen Elliott as its CRO, a role now held by Romero.

My Code’s previous CEO was its founder, Parker Morse, who stepped down from the role in 2025. Duncan’s appointment comes as My Code looks to grow under private equity owner Ariel Alternatives, which acquired a majority stake in the company in late 2023 in a deal that valued My Code at around $400 million.

A broader repositioning

The leadership changes come as Duncan aims to reposition the value proposition that My Code pitches to brands.

The company, which owns a portfolio of multicultural media brands including Remezcla, B Code, Pride Code, and AA Code, has been building out an “intelligence center” that draws on a decade of audience data, according to Duncan.

Dave LiCalzi
LiCalzi, an internal promotion, began as chief operating officer earlier this summer.

Once complete, the company plans to turn it into a customer-facing offering rather than a purely internal one. My Code is already working with Hershey on a project tied to that effort, according to Duncan.

The company has also launched an audience graph with Experian, called My Audience Plus, and added two podcasts to its content slate: Check It Up, hosted by Jadakiss and former NBA athlete God Shammgod, as well as the forthcoming Second Spoon. The latter effort is part of a broader strategy to lean more into its owned-and-operated intellectual property, per Duncan.
