Gut has retained the Canadian creative account for Tim Hortons, the Canadian-based coffeehouse, ADWEEK has learned.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Tim Hortons, which has been a part of Gut Toronto’s story from the very beginning,” Gut Toronto’s CEO, Ryan O’Hagan said in a statement to ADWEEK.
The two companies have collaborated on creative since 2018, but Gut only became the agency of record in July 2021, running celebrity-driven campaigns with Justin Bieber and highlighting Canadian cultural touch points.
“Over the past five years, we’ve built an incredible relationship rooted in trust, collaboration, and a shared belief in the power of brave creativity. We’re excited to embark on this next chapter together,” he continued.
According to sources familiar, Gut participated in a competitive review process that came down to three agencies.
Owned by parent company Restaurant Brands International, Tim Hortons posted $2 Billion in U.S. sales last quarter, up 4% year-over-year. However, sales in Canada only rose by 0.1% in the same timeframe. In the past few years, the chain put its footprint in the U.K. market as well. Today it has around 70 franchises.
Tim Hortons did not respond to ADWEEK’s request for comment in time for publication.
