The second challenge is generational. As Hutton noted, many young people enter the agency workforce skeptical of AI and uncertain of their role alongside it. Listes’ advice is to “speak and think and decide in terms of principles,” reassuring skeptics that the industry has adapted to previous technological revolutions and will adapt to this one.
“We’ve invented the new steam engine, but we’re in a better place as a society than we’ve ever been to take care of the people that we have,” he concluded. “We’ll figure it out along the way.”
