Earning recognition: ABC News’ David Muir received a lifetime achievement award from the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation (LABF) on Friday, November 14. Introduced by CBS News’ Bill Whitaker, the World News Tonight anchor and managing editor said, “The reason we’re standing here is because we stand on the shoulders of the people who opened the door for us. The doors of that TV station when I was 13 years old.” Muir added, “So let me just say thank you… and let’s all look behind us a little bit more and make sure we’re reaching out to the young people who are next in line, because we need young people, the leaders and journalists of tomorrow, now more than ever.”
Meanwhile, on Saturday night, CBS News Sunday Morning anchor Jane Pauley received the 2025 Poynter Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism from the Poynter Institute. The award was presented to Pauley during Poynter’s annual Bowtie Ball in Tampa, Florida. Also recognized at the event were New York Times Editor Dean Baquet and Doonesbury creator G.B. “Garry” Trudeau, who received distinguished Service Awards.
