On Monday, MS NOW announced the highly anticipated debut of Peter Alexander’s new weekday show, State of Play with Peter Alexander. The show will air Monday, August 10, at 11 a.m. ET, completing MS NOW’s new schedule revamp.
Alexander, who will be based in Washington, D.C., and is also the network’s chief national reporter and breaking news anchor, will provide viewers with authoritative reporting, thoughtful conversations, and in-depth analysis of the biggest political and national stories shaping the day on his new program, according to MS NOW. The show will be executive produced by Sandi Cohen.
In a memo to staffers, svp of programming Greg Kordick said State of Play is built around Alexander’s “trusted reporting, deep experience covering Washington, and unmatched relationships across government and beyond.”
Alexander joined MS NOW from NBC News in March, where he was a fixture since 2004. He was most recently the network’s chief White House correspondent and co-anchor of Saturday Today.
State of Play is the final missing piece of a June scheduling revamp touching all dayparts at MS NOW.
The network already debuted Stephanie Ruhle‘s new two-hour morning show airing at 9 a.m. titled Money, Power, Politics with Stephanie Ruhle. In addition, On the Line with Alicia Menendez airs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m, and Katy Tur’s midafternoon program got a new name: The Moment with Katy Tur. Meanwhile, Ruhle’s former 11 p.m. slot was renamed The 11th Hour with Ali Velshi, and the weekend hours of Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. were rebranded as Connect with Jacob Soboroff.
The weekend changes continued with the cancellation of The Weekend: Primetime in June, as MS NOW focuses on re-airing its video podcasts as well as its Crooked on MS NOW offerings.
