Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s vast web of social marketing helped it climb to new heights; however, traditional TV strategy was largely left on the ground, according to data.

Disney and Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day recently swung to box office records, knocking off Avengers: Endgame for the biggest domestic opening weekend of all time, earning $360 million in the U.S. and a total of $932 million worldwide. The film also combined with The Odyssey to generate the biggest collective box office weekend ever domestically with $430 million.

And it earned those box office highs while leaning into social as its superpower instead of a more traditional campaign.
