5 Marketer Moves to Know This Week: Klarna, Microsoft, and Gap

It’s been another busy week of marketing exec hires and exits, with chief marketing officers (CMOs) on the move at big brands.

We’ve rounded up the U.S. and global marketing leadership moves you need to know about from the two weeks to August 21.

Klarna’s longtime CMO David Sandström will leave at the start of 2027 after nearly a decade in the role. In a statement, Klarna said the marketer will transition out over the next five months to “prepare the brand and the team for the next phase of Klarna’s development.”

Microsoft AI CMO Andréa Mallard is leaving six months after joining the business. The exec joined from Pinterest in January after seven years.

Walmart marketing alum Justin Breton has joined Gap Inc. to drive original content for its ‘Fashiontainment’ business initiative. His hire follows the business hiring Paramount vet Pam Kaufman as its first chief entertainment officer in January.

– Activewear brand Vuori has named Carey Collins Krug CMO. She joins from Abercrombie & Fitch. Earlier in her career, she held senior marketing roles at David Yurman, Ralph Lauren, and Donna Karan International.

– Former Fresh Market CMO Emily Turner has joined Albertsons as svp CMO.
