Real dermatologists, real entertainment
CeraVe markets itself as the number one dermatologist-recommended brand, and its campaigns frequently feature real dermatologists.
In a recent ad for its anti-dandruff shampoo, SNL’s Bowen Yang and Sarah Sherman starred as members of a fictional metal band, Naumôre Dandruf, with dermatologist Dr. Dustin Portela on drums. Dr. Portela also appeared in a separate CeraVe campaign spoofing soap operas.
Gill said the balance is key: dermatologists supply credibility, while celebrities supply entertainment.
“That’s how we got Tyler Cameron and Dr. Chloe Goodman to come together and really bring the education and the entertainment,” Gill explained.
